Hoshiarpur: MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa held a meeting today with officials from the National Highway Authority of India at the local District Administrative Complex. During the meeting, he strongly emphasized the need for immediate and necessary action to improve the condition of roads falling under the Authority's jurisdiction, thereby ensuring smooth commuting facilities for the public.
While interacting with officials from the National Highway Authority and the District Administration, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa stated that the condition of roads under the National Highway Authority requires significant improvement, a task that must be undertaken on a priority basis.
He asserted that, at present, the potholes on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road must be addressed to facilitate smooth commuting for the people. He noted that the Punjab government had previously spent over ?15 crore to rectify the deplorable condition of this road, thereby ensuring smooth traffic flow. He assured that, in the future as well, the Punjab government would extend its full cooperation to the Authority to facilitate improvements in the condition of roads under the National Highway Authority's purview.
He directed the National Highway Authority officials to prioritize the development of this road to accommodate the heavy volume of daily traffic. He further stated that the District Administration would provide every necessary assistance to the National Highway Authority.
He informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken up the matter regarding the construction and repair of the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur-Chauhal and Jalandhar-Una roads with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who has given assurances that the condition of these roads will be improved shortly.
MLA Jimpa stated that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working with complete commitment to elevate the state's infrastructure to a world-class standard. He added that work on the construction and repair of over 45,000 kilometers of roads is proceeding rapidly across the state to strengthen its road network. The government's primary objective is to connect every village in Punjab with a robust road network, thereby boosting the rural economy. He stated that, placing a strong emphasis on the quality and durability of roads, the government has implemented stringent regulations. He clarified that if a road sustains any form of damage within five years of its construction, the entire responsibility for its repair will rest with the concerned contractor.
MLA Jimpa directed officials to complete necessary road repairs in a time-bound manner to ensure safe and smooth travel for the public, thereby preventing any untoward incidents. He noted that Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain is continuously holding meetings with authority officials to review the measures being taken to improve the condition of these roads; furthermore, he himself is conducting his sixth such meeting to ensure hassle-free commuting for the people.
