Kolkata:- Mamata's TMC has split in West Bengal. 58 rebel MLAs on Monday declared Ritabrat Banerjee, who was expelled from the party, as the party's MLA leader. On Wednesday, they met Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose and submitted a letter of support.
Javed Khan, Sandeepan Saha and Siuli Saha have been appointed deputy leaders, while Akhruzman has been appointed as the chief whip.
TMC won 80 seats in the Bengal elections. After the rebellion of 58 MLAs, Mamata now has only 22 MLAs left. Although the rebel group still nominates Mamata Banerjee as the party president in its letter, they are not accepting Abhishek Banerjee's leadership and decisions related to the legislature party.
On Monday, a letter was sent to the Speaker on Abhishek Banerjee's letterhead, proposing to appoint Shobhandev as the leader of the opposition. MLAs Sandeepan Saha and Ritabrat Banerjee complained that their signatures on the proposal were forged. Following the complaint, Mamata Banerjee expelled both the MLAs from the party.
