Fatehabad, March 24 – "We should celebrate the birth anniversaries and martyrdom days of martyrs and great personalities as festivals, so that our future generations may be awakened." These sentiments were expressed by Tarun Bhandari, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Haryana, while addressing a massive public rally against drug abuse on the occasion of 'Veer Shahidi Diwas' (Martyrdom Day), held to mark the first anniversary of the Mahashakti Charitable Trust. Prominent figures present on this occasion included Baba Brahm Das (Head of Dera Baba Bhuman Shah), Rajeshwari Devi, Bhagat Rajendra, Mahant Natwar Lal, Vigyan Premanand, and Mata Satyam Deva.
The ceremony was presided over by the BJP District President, Praveen Joda. The event witnessed the presence of thousands of dignitaries, including Subhash Khichar, Chairman Jagjit Hooda, Parmil Kumar (from ICS), Dalbir Bharti, Sahib Dayal (National President of the Suryavanshi Organization), Vice President Savita Tuteja, Kanwal Chaudhary, Naresh Sardana, Suman Bajaj, Rajiv Batra, Gurcharan Singh Khokhar, litterateur Dr. Naib Singh Mander, Sharma Chand Lali, Madan Thakur, Principal Dr. Gurcharan Das, Aman Singh Raghav, Kapil Sharma, and Paras Singla.
Paying homage to the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, Tarun Bhandari stated that it is solely due to the sacrifices of these brave martyrs that we are able to breathe the free air of independence today. He noted that the problem of drug abuse has today assumed a colossal and menacing form. He further remarked that the sapling planted by the Mahashakti Charitable Trust just one year ago has now grown into a sturdy tree, the sole objective of which is to liberate the common man from the clutches of drug addiction.
Congratulating Bhavani Singh, President of the Mahashakti Charitable Trust, and his family, he said, "Blessed are his parents, whose son is today valiantly fighting the battle for the youth—not only in Fatehabad but across the entire state of Haryana and India." He added, "While people typically fight for their own interests, Bhavani Singh is fighting this battle on behalf of all of you with unwavering determination." During the ceremony, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur delivered his message to the public gathering via video conference. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated that the youth are the true architects of our nation's future. He remarked that the campaign to keep the youth away from drugs—being spearheaded by the Mahashakti Charitable Trust under the leadership of Bhawani Singh—is, in itself, a formidable battle. However, he noted that the enthusiasm and the massive turnout of the crowd present serve as proof that they will undoubtedly achieve their objective. He extended his best wishes to the Mahashakti Charitable Trust.
Addressing the gathering, Saint Baba Brahm Das Ji of Dera Baba Bhuman Shah stated that the Dera Baba Bhuman Shah has consistently raised its voice against the menace of drugs. He emphasized that, today, every family must personally look after their children and actively support this campaign against substance abuse. He further asserted that the battle being waged by Bhawani Singh should not be confined merely to Fatehabad but must be taken to every district across the entire state, and affirmed that the Dera would extend its full cooperation in this endeavor.
Expressing his gratitude to the dignitaries and the thousands of people present, Bhawani Singh, President of the Mahashakti Charitable Trust, pledged that he would never betray the trust that the people—whom he regards as his own family—have placed in him. He recalled that he had initially embarked on this fight against drugs all alone; however, this caravan, now numbering in the thousands, has evolved into a full-fledged mission. Its objective extends beyond just Fatehabad; the ultimate goal is a drug-free Haryana and, indeed, a drug-free India.
He revealed that he had received thousands of threats in his efforts to curb drug abuse, but asserted that the massive crowd gathered today stands as proof that Bhawani does not stand alone. He emphasized that the nation can survive only if its youth survive. Bhawani Singh highlighted that, over the past year, the Mahashakti Charitable Trust has successfully rescued thousands of young people from the clutches of drug addiction. He added that free medical treatment is currently being provided to those struggling with drug dependency.
Bhawani Singh concluded by stating that it is the blessings of the people that continue to empower and strengthen him. On this occasion, Dr. Naib Singh Mander admirably performed the pivotal role of anchoring the program. The grand 'Chetna Yatra' (Awareness March) proceeded from the Grain Market to the Martyrs' Memorial, where floral tributes were offered to the martyrs. Thousands of people were present at the event, including Om Prakash Chugh, Dharampal Chawla, Neha Mittal, Prof. Nitin Sachdeva, Shruti, Kuldeep Kamboj, Sundar Lal Musafir, and Kuldeep Kamana.
