Prayagraj:- The Magh Mela began on Saturday in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on the auspicious occasion of 'Poush Purnima', where despite the bitter cold and cold wave, lakhs of devotees took a dip of faith in the holy confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. According to the administration, by 10 am, about 9 lakh devotees had taken bath and by evening, this number is expected to reach 20 to 30 lakh.
Along with this, the month-long 'Kalpavas' has also started, in which about 5 lakh devotees will live a simple life on the banks of Ganga and will immerse themselves in devotion by taking bath twice a day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the devotees through social media and wished everyone peace and happiness. For the arrangements of the fair, 10 bathing ghats and 9 bridges have been prepared by the administration in 10 thousand square feet.
The special thing this time was that Kinnar Akhara has also started ‘Kalpavas’ in this fair for the first time. A separate township named ‘Prayagwal’ has also been established for the convenience of the devotees. The next main bathing of the Magh fair will be on Makar Sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 18) and Mahashivratri (February 15).
