Mohali:- Mohali Police has claimed to have identified the shooters in the murder case of Kabaddi promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauria during a tournament in Sohana on Monday evening. The shooters have been identified as Aditya Kapoor and Karan Pathak. Mohali Police has claimed to arrest the shooters soon.
Addressing a press conference, Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said that two shooters carried out the incident while another person was involved in the incident with them. The SSP, however, clarified that this incident has no connection with the killers of Sidhu Moosewala or the incident nor did Rana Balachauria have any criminal record.
He said that this case is related to strengthening their grip on Kabaddi and Kabaddi players. Two gangs named Tony Ball and Lucky Patial, who are further related to the Bambiha gang, have an important role in this murder case. He said that both the shooters are related to the Tony Ball group. Of these, 13 cases have been registered against Aditya Kapoor and two cases against Karan Pathak.
Hans said that both the shooters are residents of Amritsar and around 12 teams have been formed by the Mahali police to arrest them and sent to Amritsar, Delhi and other places. The SSP said that after the incident, the shooters escaped on a motorcycle. He said that in this incident, another of his associates who was going with Rana Balachauria was also hit by bullets, who is under treatment at the Civil Hospital in Mohali but his condition is out of danger.
The SSP said that the number of bullets that hit Rana Balachauria will be known after the report of his ongoing postmortem comes. He said that the bullets were fired with a 30 bore pistol. Regarding the ongoing discussion about the disappearance of Rana Balachauria's pistol, chain, gold bracelet and other ornaments during the attack, the SSP said that no such complaint has been received by the police so far.
