Una, January 20: A joint monitoring committee, headed by Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal, inspected the ongoing flood protection works under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in the Haroli Water Resources Division on Tuesday. The joint monitoring committee includes the Superintending Engineer of the Water Resources Department Una, the Superintending Engineer of the Swan River Flood Management Project Circle Una, and the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department Una as members, while the District Revenue Officer Una serves as the member secretary.
During the inspection, Superintending Engineer of the Water Resources Department Naresh Dhiman, along with other members of the committee and officers from the Haroli Water Resources Division and other concerned departments, were also present.
The joint monitoring committee inspected a total of 9 flood protection works on this occasion, with a total approved estimated cost of Rs. 25.59 crore. These works include Mohalla Taliyan, Athwai Khad (Pandoga), Harijan Basti (Khad), Seer Nala, Ghaluwal, Haroli Khad, Bhadsali Khad (Mohalla Tholiyan), Bathri Khad, and the Pandoga Industrial Area.
During the inspection, the committee expressed satisfaction that all the works are being executed in accordance with SDRF standards and that more than 85 percent of the work has been physically completed. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to complete the remaining works expeditiously so that the area can be protected from potential damage during the upcoming monsoon season.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that completing the flood protection works on time and with quality according to the prescribed standards is a priority to ensure the safety of life and property during the upcoming monsoon. He said that the remaining funds for these projects will also be released soon so that the works are completed on time and there is no damage during the rainy season. During this time, Puneet Sharma, Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Mandal (Water Resources Department) Haroli, informed that a sum of ?13.42 crore has been received for these projects so far, which has been fully utilized, while approximately ?12.17 crore is still awaited. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities to ensure the remaining funds are released promptly and necessary action is taken.
