Ambala, January 8: All India Congress Committee General Secretary, former minister and Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa, Kumari Selja, has said that the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has adopted a policy of rejection instead of selection by implementing a 35 percent criteria in Class-I and Class-II recruitments. This is not only closing the doors to jobs for the youth of the reserved category, but it has also made entry into government services almost impossible for the youth of the general category. This decision has caused widespread anger among the youth across the state.
In a statement issued to the media here today, MP Kumari Selja held the HPSC chairman entirely responsible for this. She said that since the chairman of the commission is from outside Haryana, he has no concern for the problems of the state's youth. He does not want the youth of Haryana to get opportunities in Class-I and Class-II jobs.
She said that the situation has been completely exposed by the results of the main examination for the posts of Assistant Professor recently released by the Haryana Public Service Commission. Against 1010 posts in various subjects, only 336 candidates were declared successful, whereas according to the rules, 2020 candidates should have been passed.
Even greater injustice has been done to the candidates of the reserved category. Only 166 candidates were passed in all the reserved categories combined, whereas 1016 candidates should have been passed. She said that if we talk about the English subject, 301 posts were advertised for the reserved category, out of which only 16 candidates were passed and the remaining 285 posts were left vacant.
Similarly, 120 posts were advertised for the SC and DSC categories in the English subject, but only three candidates from these categories were declared successful. A total of 613 posts were advertised in the English subject, against which only 151 candidates were passed, while all the rest were rejected. These figures clearly show that the Haryana Public Service Commission has almost completely closed the doors for candidates from the reserved categories.
The MP said that similarly, 502 posts for Assistant Professor were advertised for the general category, but only 336 candidates were selected, whereas 1004 candidates should have been called for the interview. Kumari Selja said that the same situation was observed in the AMO and PGT recruitments, where a 35 percent criteria barrier was erected, leaving most of the posts vacant and preventing candidates from even reaching the interview stage.
She demanded that the Haryana government ensure that at least twice the number of candidates for the total number of posts are selected in the subject knowledge examination and called for interviews, and that all advertised posts are filled. She alleged that the government only issues recruitment advertisements for show, while in reality, the posts are left vacant, which is a direct betrayal of the youth of the state.
Along with this, Kumari Selja demanded that a qualified and educated person from Haryana itself be appointed to the post of Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission. She said that the appointment of a person from outside the state to this extremely important recruitment commission of the state is unacceptable under any circumstances.
Bringing justice to Ankita Bhandari has become a people's struggle
Sirsa MP and Uttarakhand in-charge, Congress General Secretary Kumari Selja said that the people who have taken to the streets of Uttarakhand are sending a clear message that the injustice done to Ankita Bhandari will no longer be tolerated.
Despite the evidence coming to light before the country, the BJP government's silence and wavering attitude show that attempts are being made to protect the culprits under the patronage of power. The state government's role seems to be not of delivering justice, but of suppressing the matter. Neither concrete action has been taken nor has accountability been fixed at any level. This attitude is not only an insult to the people of Uttarakhand but also to the country's justice system.
Now, half-hearted measures are not acceptable. True justice for Ankita Bhandari can only be achieved when an impartial and independent investigation of the entire case is conducted by the CBI. Kumari Selja clarified that the Congress party stands firmly with the people of Uttarakhand on this demand and will continue to raise its voice until justice is served.
