Chandigarh - The suicide case of Haryana's senior ADGP-rank IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar has heated up the nation. Now, even the actions of Haryana's Nayab Saini are showing signs of stagnation. The Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh, has placed DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor (the name in the suicide note) on extended leave and appointed an acting DGP of Haryana. Om Prakash Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer, has been given temporary charge of Haryana DGP.
OP Singh will hold the additional charge of Haryana DGP, meaning he will continue to handle all his current duties as before. It's worth noting that ever since the FIR was filed against DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor in the suicide case, it was believed that he might either be sent on forced leave or removed from his post. Recently, DGP Shatrujit Singh met with Chief Minister Nayab Saini. This meeting occurred after the Chief Minister returned from meeting Y. Puran Kumar's IAS wife. Two IPS officers were in the running for the DGP position. One was IPS officer OP Singh, who was being discussed as the Haryana DGP.
The other was 1993 batch IPS officer Alok Mittal. Currently, the Nayab government has approved IPS officer OP Singh's name, and he has been appointed as the acting DGP of Haryana. It should be noted that Y. Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amneet P. Kumar, had been adamant about removing DGP Shatrujit Singh from the post.
IAS Amneet P. Kumar demands that fair and just action be taken in the Y. Puran Kumar suicide case. All the officers named in her husband's suicide note, including DGP Shatrujit Singh, should be suspended and arrested. Amneet Kumar says that if the accused officers are not arrested soon, they may destroy evidence and influence the investigation to escape. It's been eight days, and Y. Puran Kumar's post-mortem and last rites have still not been performed.
DGP sent on leave before Rahul Gandhi's visit
It's noteworthy that Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister has sent DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor on extended leave and appointed an acting DGP, even as Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi is in Chandigarh today to meet Y. Puran Kumar's family. The government appears to have taken action and taken this action even before Rahul Gandhi's meeting with the family. It's worth noting that Rahul Gandhi is meeting Y. Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amneet P. Kumar, and family in Sector 24, Chandigarh, to express his condolences.

Puran Kumar's suicide case has become a topic of discussion across the country, and members of the Dalit community are seen as extremely angry, the political situation surrounding the case is also heating up. Opposition leaders have begun targeting the BJP on caste lines, with various statements being made by opposition leaders.
On the other hand, a Mahapanchayat has been formed regarding the Y. Puran Kumar suicide case, and the government is being warned. This suicide has brought Haryana's governance and administrative system under scrutiny. This entire incident has significantly impacted Haryana's bureaucracy.
IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar committed suicide at his Chandigarh residence on October 7th. He shot himself with his licensed revolver, killing him instantly. His wife was not present at the time of his death. In fact, Y. Puran Kumar's IAS wife, Amneet Kumar, was on a tour of Japan with Chief Minister Nayab Saini. Following the suicide, an eight-page final note was found at Y. Puran Kumar's Sector 11 residence. The Chandigarh Police is the only officer, and the CFSL team collected numerous evidence.
Y. Puran Kumar was a senior IPS officer of the 2001 batch of Haryana cadre. Last month, he was transferred from ADGP, Rohtak Range, to IG Ghansunaria (Rohtak). Previously, Y. Puran Kumar served as IG of the Rohtak Range, IG Madhuban, and IG Home Guards. For example, during his IPS career, Y. Puran Kumar held several important and senior positions in the Haryana Police. During this period, Y. Puran Kumar, a 2001 batch IPS officer, remained a prominent figure in Haryana's bureaucracy.
