Chandigarh, October 3:- Haryana Cooperation, Prisons, Tourism, Heritage and Elections Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated the state’s athletes who brought glory to the country with their outstanding performances at the Asian Games-2026, saying that athletes from Haryana have once again proved that Haryana is a sporting powerhouse of the country. He said the achievement of the athletes who took the tricolour to the top on the international stage is a matter of pride for the entire state. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that Parveen Hooda of Rohtak, Ankush Panghal of Hisar, Sujeet Kalkal of Charkhi Dadri and Kirti Sharma of Jind have brought glory to Haryana by winning gold medals. From the boxing ring to the wrestling arena and the archery field, Haryana’s athletes have displayed their golden brilliance.
He said that Haryana’s athletes have also brought glory to the country in shooting. Rewari’s Kamaljeet and Jhajjar’s Suruchi won the gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event. Similarly, the participation of eight athletes from Haryana in the Indian men’s kabaddi team that won the gold medal is itself evidence of the state’s strong sporting culture.
The Cooperation Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the sporting environment in the country has changed, with greater focus on sports and athletes. At the same time, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana government is continuously working to provide athletes with modern facilities, training and encouragement. The objective of the state’s sports policy is to provide opportunities to rural talent and take it to national and international platforms. Dr. Arvind Sharma said that when our sons and daughters, emerging from villages and ordinary families of Haryana, take the tricolour to the top at the Asian Games, it is a moment of pride for the entire state. The hard work of our athletes, the sacrifices of their families and the strong sporting culture developed in the state are the real strength behind this success.
He said that along with honouring and encouraging medal-winning athletes, the Haryana government is placing special emphasis on connecting the new generation with sports. These achievements of the athletes will inspire thousands of young people in the state to enter the sporting arena and win medals for the country. Dr. Arvind Sharma congratulated all the medal-winning athletes, their coaches and family members and expressed confidence that Haryana’s athletes will continue to bring more medals to the country in the upcoming competitions and enhance the pride of the state.
