Patiala, January 20: Gyan Deep Sahitya Sadhna Manch (Registered) Patiala organized a literary program in memory of the late poet Balbir Jalalabadi (former General Secretary of Gyan Deep Manch) at the Language Department's seminar hall. Inaugurating the program, the Manch's secretary, Gurcharan Singh Chan Patialvi, shed light on Balbir Jalalabadi's life and literary journey.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. G.S. Anand said that Balbir Jalalabadi was not just a person but an institution who firmly established Gyan Deep Manch. The Manch's senior vice-president, Kulwant Singh Narike, said that Jalalabadi was the soul of the Manch, who worked for the institution selflessly.
Speaking about Balbir Jalalabadi, Dr. Arvinder Kaur Kakra said that he was a profound poet who was always dedicated to progressive, modernist, and democratic ideologies. Dr. Iqbal Somia said that Jalalabadi's poetry was humanist, addressing the concerns of the people. Dharam Singh Kameana said that Jalalabadi gave poetic expression to the feelings of the oppressed.
Mahesh Gautam, Sukhdev Singh Shant, Bachan Singh Guram, Avtarjit Attwal, Harjit Kaith, and Navdeep Mundi also shared their thoughts. Balbir Jalalabadi's wife Gurdarshan Kaur, daughter Manminder Kaur, brother Nachhattar Singh, and Jaswinder Pal Kaur also attended the program. In the poetry session, renowned poets Kulwant Saidoke, Darshan Singh Darsh Pasiana, Gurpreet Dhillon, Jaswinder Khara, Parminder Shokh, Kirpal Munak, Manmohan Nabha, Narinderpal Kaur, Gurdarshan Gusil, Tejinder Anjana, Mangat Khan, Kuldeep Kaur Dhanju, Balbir Singh Dildar, Krishan Dhiman, Jaswinder Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur Sukh, Mandeep Mandy, Asha Sharma, Dr. Manju Midha Arora, Ram Singh Bang, Vijay Kumar, Sam Singh Prem, Harjeet Kaur, and Kiran Singla presented their works.
