Hoshiarpur: Since April 30, there have been no female employees available to care for elderly women at the government-run old age home in Hoshiarpur; the facility is currently relying entirely on male staff. The Shiromani Akali Dal has expressed deep outrage over the violation of privacy faced by these disabled and helpless mothers. The party warned that if immediate action is not taken against the officials responsible, the matter will be taken up with the Women's Commission.
Hoshiarpur: On one hand, the state's current government makes grand claims regarding the "Chief Minister Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana," asserting that it is honoring the daughters and sisters of Punjab; yet, on the other hand, the reality on the ground is deeply concerning and shameful. This revelation was made today by Sanjeev Talwar, the Shiromani Akali Dal's constituency in-charge for Hoshiarpur, in a scathing statement issued here.
Exposing the flaws in the government's administrative machinery, Sanjeev Talwar pointed out that 14 women are currently residing in the government old age home operating within Hoshiarpur. Among them, five elderly women are in an extremely helpless condition—unable to bathe themselves, use the restroom independently, or perform any other daily chores without assistance.
"It is a matter of deep regret and shame that since April 30, not a single female employee has been deployed at the old age home to care for these elderly mothers. Their care is currently being entrusted to a male employee. This not only completely undermines the government's flagship scheme but also constitutes a severe violation of these elderly mothers' privacy."

Strongly condemning this act of negligence, the Akali leader has demanded that the district administration and the government take immediate and strict action against all government officials responsible for this sensitive situation, and ensure the immediate deployment of female staff at the old age home. Issuing a stern warning, Talwar stated that the Shiromani Akali Dal would not tolerate this mockery of the dignity of elderly mothers. He asserted that if the administration failed to take immediate action regarding this matter, they would escalate this grave issue to the Women's Commission to ensure that these destitute mothers receive justice and a dignified environment. Santosh Singh Aujla (District President, Trade Cell), Sanjeev Thapar (Urban President, Scheduled Castes Wing), Ved Raj Adiya, and Niti Talwar were also present at the press conference.
