Nagar, 25 September:- President of the Punjab Secretariat Services (Retired Officers) Association, Shyam Lal Sharma, has demanded that the errors in the letter issued by the Punjab Government regarding payment of 8 per cent increased DA to Punjab employees and pensioners in recent days be rectified.
In a statement issued here, he said that the Punjab Government has issued a letter regarding payment of 8 per cent increased DA to its pensioners and employees with effect from September 1, 2026, which will be received along with the pension/salary to be paid in October.
He said that the error in the letter issued recently regarding DA is that the government should have mentioned that it has been decided to provide 4 per cent DA with effect from July 1, 2023, and 4 per cent with effect from January 1, 2024, making a total of 8 per cent DA. Along with this, as mentioned in the previously issued letters, it should also have been stated that a decision regarding the arrears accruing from July 1, 2023 and January 1, 2024 would be taken later.
He demanded that this error be rectified and that no attempt should be made to de-link DA from the Government of India. He also demanded that, in accordance with the decision given by the Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding DA, 18 per cent DA and all the resulting arrears should be paid along with 6 per cent interest. He said that at the meeting with the Chief Minister scheduled for the first week of October, a decision should be taken regarding revision of pensioners' pensions according to the 2.59 formula and, in accordance with the discussions held during the meeting regarding the demands of employees, their remaining demands should also be accepted.
