The department of ENT and the department of Neurosurgery PGIMER Chandigarh are jointly organising the 1st Auditory Brainstem Implant Workshop on 18-19th January 2025.
This is the first time ever that such a workshop is being conducted in Asia Pacific said Prof Ramandeep Virk the Organising Secretary of the workshop.
It's only been held in Germany before. Among the invited faculty are Padmashree Professor Mohan Kameshwaran from MERF Chennai who has done the maximum of these cases in India and Professor Robert Behr a neurosurgeon who has done the most cases in the world.
Auditory Brain Stem Impants are done in patients who have a damaged cochlea or damaged nerve of hearing.
This workshop is an invite only workshop and 3 teams consisting of an ENT Surgeon a neurosurgeon and an audiologist have been invited from AIIMS Delhi, SGPGI Lucknow and Reliance Hospital Mumbai.
Surgeons will be trained by Prof Mohan and Prof Behr on cadavers.
