Dirba/ Lehragaga/Sangrur, May 31:- Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today dedicated the projects prepared for the development of roads in the villages of the area to the people. A total cost of about Rs 8.76 crore has been incurred on these projects, which has brought about a major improvement in the connectivity and transport facilities of the villages.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said during a function held at the inauguration of the roads at village Daska that the approximately 10.5 km long road from village Bachchuana to village Bareta (via Daska and Bahadurpur) has been widened from 12 feet to 18 feet. The cost of this project has been about Rs 7 crore 15 lakh. He said that earlier due to the broken and narrow nature of this road, people had to face huge difficulties in transportation and there was also a risk of accidents, but now with its widening, it has become easier for the residents of villages Bachhuana, Daska and Bahadurpur to go to Bareta.
Apart from this, a new road of about 4 km long has been prepared from village Daska to village Khatri Wala, on which about 1 crore 27 lakh rupees have been spent. Earlier due to this road being unpaved, people had to face a lot of difficulties during the rainy or hot season, but now this problem has been completely solved and the connectivity of both the villages has been strengthened.
The Finance Minister also informed that an approximately 1 km long road leading to Dera Baba Dhaula Pir located on village Daska-Bahadarpur road has been prepared at a cost of Rs 34.50 lakh. Devotees coming from different villages to this religious place will now get convenient transportation.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, large-scale road construction and renovation work is going on in Punjab and about 40 thousand kilometers of roads are being strengthened. Harpal Singh Cheema said that the people of the area have also admitted that the development of villages has been neglected during the last several decades, but the present government is continuously making efforts for the all-round development of villages and cities. He said that by dedicating these roads to the people, the long-standing problems of the area have been resolved and in the coming times, the road infrastructure of Punjab will become even stronger. A large number of local residents were present on this occasion.
