Balachaur- At the district level Kisan Mela organized by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department at nearby village Karawar today to provide technical information to the farmers about rabi crops, MLA Santosh Kataria said that farming by ensuring proper use and conservation of natural resources is the main demand of the present time.
Addressing the gathering of farmers, MLA Santosh Kataria said that easy access of farmers to the department is very important to take advantage of various government schemes so that they can get the necessary information along with them. He appealed to the farmers to use only the seeds, fertilizers and medicines recommended by the experts of the Agriculture Department to make the farming business profitable.
He said that under the government's scheme 'Save Water, Save Money', maximum farmers can also earn good profit by saving ground water. He said that the Punjab government is arranging different types of quality seeds for the Rabi season crops for the farmers. He said that the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department will also run a bill checking campaign to provide quality seeds/fertilizers/pesticides to the farmers.
He also visited the exhibitions organized by the Agriculture Department and allied departments and self-help groups. SDM Kritika Goyal attended the fair as a special guest and interacted with the farmers and the people who came to see the exhibitions organized in the Kisan Mela.
