Chandigarh, September 15:- With the government procurement of paddy in Haryana scheduled to begin from October 1, the state government has accelerated administrative preparations. At a high-level review meeting chaired by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana, officials were directed to ensure comprehensive and adequate arrangements in mandis across the state so that farmers do not face any kind of inconvenience in selling their produce.
Senior officials from various departments associated with the paddy procurement process, including the Agriculture Department, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, were present at the meeting.
Special technical measures are once again being adopted this year to make the procurement process transparent and ensure that only genuine farmers benefit. Paddy from eligible farmers will be procured only on the basis of registered and verified data available on the ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal. Officials informed that gate passes would be issued only after farmers bringing paddy to the mandis are verified through geo-fencing technology. In addition, final procurement of the crop will be approved only after matching the crop details entered by the farmer on the portal with the prescribed average yield of the concerned area.
The Agriculture Minister made it clear that the entire system, from the issuance of the gate pass to weighing of the crop and payment being directly credited to the farmer’s bank account after the sale, must be simple and transparent.
Along with the ongoing arrangements for paddy procurement, the Agriculture Minister also directed officials to make advance preparations for the upcoming Rabi season, particularly for wheat sowing. He instructed officials to ensure that farmers do not face any shortage during the sowing season. For this purpose, adequate stocks of essential fertilisers such as urea and DAP should be kept ready in advance, and timely availability of high-quality certified seeds should be ensured.
