Sangrur, 9 October:- In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, Punjab, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Day was celebrated enthusiastically at various Anganwadi centres across Sangrur district under the directions of District Programme Officer Pardeep Singh Gill. The main objective of this activity was to familiarise children with the significance of the festivals of Dussehra and Diwali, cultural heritage, and the difference between good and evil in a simple and engaging manner.
Children aged 3 to 6 years and their parents participated enthusiastically in the event. Anganwadi workers narrated stories related to the festivals and shared information about traditions and cultural values. The children were taught that Dussehra symbolises the victory of good over evil, while Diwali conveys the message of light, happiness, mutual love and communal harmony.
During the activities, children were encouraged to speak the truth, help others, respect elders, cooperate with one another and adopt good habits. Anganwadi workers provided opportunities for learning through games, storytelling, conversations and other creative activities so that children could easily understand the true meaning of the festivals.
The main objective of celebrating ECCE Day is to inculcate moral values, good habits and respect for cultural heritage in children during their early years. Such activities also play an important role in promoting children’s mental, social and emotional development.
The active participation of parents made the activities even more effective. Anganwadi centres witnessed an atmosphere of happiness, enthusiasm and cultural bonding, where children were taught through play-based learning.
