Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 12 December 2025:- Keeping in mind the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections 2025, which are going to be held on 14 December 2025, instructions have been issued by the State Election Commission through a letter to observe dry day from 12:00 AM on 14 December 2025 to 10:00 AM on 15 December 2025.
In pursuance of these directions, Smt. Komal Mittal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has issued orders to close all liquor shops and related places falling within the constituencies of Panchayat Samitis Majri, Kharar and Derabassi under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, Section 135C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act, 2023.
As per these orders, all liquor shops, premises, hotels, restaurants, clubs and all places serving liquor shall remain completely closed, and sale, serving or storage of liquor shall be strictly prohibited during the specified hours. No person shall be able to possess liquor during this period.
The District Superintendent of Police and Assistant Commissioner, Taxation and Excise, SAS Nagar have been directed to ensure complete compliance of this order.
