Una, August 24: A meeting of the District-Level Review Committee and the District-Level Bank Consultative Committee was held today at the DRDA Hall, presided over by Una Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ishant Jaswal. The meeting reviewed the performance of banks in the district up to the June quarter.
The ADC stated that banks in the district surpassed their targets, disbursing loans worth ?1,203.64 crore against a first-quarter target of ?690.40 crore.
He noted that the total deposits held by banks in the district have risen to ?17,120.97 crore, marking an annual growth of 10.70 percent. Meanwhile, the total loan portfolio has grown by 16.19 percent to reach ?5,535.56 crore. The district's credit-deposit ratio stood at 32.33 percent, which is below the national target. Consequently, he directed all banks and relevant government departments to make coordinated efforts to improve this ratio.
Emphasizing the priority of the agricultural sector, Ishant Jaswal stated that agricultural loans in the district amount to ?1,032.36 crore, representing 18.65 percent of the total credit. He instructed banks to boost loan disbursement through Kisan Credit Cards and to support initiatives aimed at increasing farmers' income, farm mechanization, and agricultural infrastructure.
Under the 'Kheti Bachao Abhiyan' (Save Farming Campaign), instructions were issued to all banks to launch a special drive for issuing new Kisan Credit Cards via the 'Krishika' app and to ensure maximum benefit for eligible farmers. Special emphasis was also placed on providing loan facilities through digital channels and promoting agricultural investment.
Highlighting the importance of registering nominations for all savings and deposit accounts, he directed bank officials to launch a special campaign in this regard. Special emphasis was also placed on ensuring the simple and speedy settlement of claims regarding deceased account holders on a priority basis, so that eligible family members do not face unnecessary hardships.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ishant Jaswal directed all banks to make proactive efforts to extend the benefits of bank loan schemes, self-employment initiatives, and government-sponsored programs to the maximum number of people in the district. He stated that this would not only economically empower ordinary citizens and entrepreneurs but also improve the district's credit-deposit ratio.
He issued instructions to ensure the timely disposal of loan applications received under government-sponsored schemes. Concern was also expressed regarding the rising cases of cyber fraud; banks were directed to continuously raise customer awareness about digital security and protection against cybercrimes.
**Subsequently, the ADC also held a review meeting for PNB RSETI.
The meeting was attended by Zila Parishad Chairperson Pawan Kumar, Chief District Lead Bank Manager Vijay Singh, RBI District Lead Officer Rahul Joshi, NABARD District Development Manager Sabrina Rajvanshi, and FLCC Una’s Raj Kumar, along with district coordinators from various banks and officials from government and non-government departments.
