Una, March 8- A district level program was organized at Lala Jagat Prakash Narayan Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kotla Khurd on Friday to commemorate International Women's Day. Mrs. Renu Sherawat, President of District Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section and wife of Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal, attended the program as the chief guest, while the program was presided over by SDM Una Shri Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan. On this occasion, Mrs. Nidhi, wife of Superintendent of Police Una and Mrs. Lakshmi, wife of Additional Deputy Commissioner Una were present as special guests.
This year the theme of Women's Day was focused on "Women Empowerment for Inclusive Society", in which efforts to empower women socially, economically and politically were discussed.

Chief guest Mrs. Renu Sherawat said in her address that education and awareness towards rights are very important for women empowerment. He said that only when women are educated and recognize their rights, they will be able to become self-reliant and play their role strongly in the society.
*Collective efforts necessary for women empowerment – ??SDM*
SDM Una Shri Vishwa Mohan Dev Chauhan said in his address that it is the collective responsibility of the society to promote the rights, respect and empowerment of women. He said that the society will become empowered only when women get equal opportunities and rights. He called upon everyone to make their active contribution for women empowerment and gender equality.
*Women doing excellent work were honored*
During the program, women who made outstanding contributions in various fields were honored. Apart from this, the baby shower ceremony of four pregnant women was also completed. During this, awareness was spread by presenting street plays based on women welfare schemes of the government by Anganwadi workers. Cultural programs were also presented by the girl students of the college.
On this occasion, CDPO Shri Shiv Verma and other dignitaries were present.
*Nehru Yuva Kendra also celebrated Women's Day*
In the same sequence, Nehru Yuva Kendra Una also celebrated International Women's Day in DRDA Hall. The program was presided over by Mrs. Renu Sherawat, President of District Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section and wife of Deputy Commissioner Una.
In her address, she said that today women are playing an important role in every field and are moving forward shoulder to shoulder with men. She said that for the inclusive development of the society, it is necessary for women to be self-reliant and aware.
On this occasion, Mrs. Nidhi, wife of Superintendent of Police Una, also addressed the women and said that women are not behind in any field and they should play a leadership role in the society by being aware of their rights.
During the program, District Program Officer (NRLM) Mrs. Jyoti Sharma, Advocate and Spokesperson Mrs. Sham Dulari, Mr. Amit Sharma of Block LVDC, Mr. Abhinav Kalia, Manager of NFCI Una, Master Trainer Mrs. Ranjit Kaur from Hoshiarpur and two women from each block were honored.
