Hoshiarpur: The State Election Commission has announced the general elections for District Council and Panchayat Samiti members in the state. Providing information in this regard, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, Ashika Jain, stated that as per the schedule released by the State Election Commission, elections for 25 Zila Parishad zones and 208 Block Committees will be held in Hoshiarpur district on December 14th. These elections will be conducted through ballot papers.
District Election Officer Ashika Jain stated that as per the election schedule, candidates can submit their nomination papers to the office of the respective Returning Officer until December 4th, 2025 (from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM). Scrutiny of nominations will be held on December 5th, 2025 (Friday). The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be December 6th, 2025 (Saturday) at 3:00 PM.
The District Election Officer informed that 11 nomination centres have been set up in the district for filing nominations, including 10 for Panchayat Samitis and one for Zila Parishad. He informed that for Zila Parishad Hoshiarpur, the court room has been set up at the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Hoshiarpur; for Panchayat Samiti Garhshankar, the court room has been set up at the office of SDM Garhshankar; for Panchayat Samiti Mahilpur, the meeting hall has been set up at the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer Mahilpur; for Panchayat Samiti Hoshiarpur-1, the court room has been set up at the office of SDM, Hoshiarpur; for Panchayat Samiti Hoshiarpur-2, the court room has been set up at the court room of Tehsildar, Hoshiarpur; for Panchayat Samiti Bhunga, the nomination centres have been set up at Government Senior Secondary School, Bhunga; for Panchayat Samiti Tanda, the court room has been set up at SDM Office, Tanda; for Panchayat Samiti Dasuha, the court room has been set up at SDM Office, Mukerian; for Panchayat Samiti Hajipur, the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Hajipur; and for Panchayat Samiti Talwara, the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Talwara.
The District Election Officer stated that voting will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM using ballot papers. Counting of votes will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the counting centers established for this purpose.
The District Election Officer stated that the State Election Commission has set a maximum election expenditure limit of ?2,55,000 for a Zila Parishad candidate and ?1,10,000 for a Panchayat Samiti candidate.
He stated that with the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct for the guidance of all candidates and the State Government has come into effect immediately in all the Gram Panchayats in the district, which fall under the respective Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti jurisdictions, and will remain in force until the completion of the entire election process. He stated that the District Administration will conduct these elections in a completely fair, free, and peaceful manner, in accordance with the instructions and regulations of the State Election Commission.
