Karnal, March 26: Manohar Lal Khattar—Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Member of Parliament for the Karnal Lok Sabha constituency—presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held at the Mini Secretariat. He directed officials to ensure greater transparency and speed in the implementation of welfare schemes initiated by both the Central and State governments, and to ensure that the benefits reach the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries.
While reviewing 23 schemes across 11 departments during the meeting, the Minister stated that officials should focus on the effective implementation of these schemes—rather than merely presenting statistics—and offer concrete suggestions for resolving any issues. During the review of the Agriculture Department, he issued directives to ensure 100% registration of all crops on the "Meri Fasal, Mera Byora" (My Crop, My Details) portal, to record details regarding mixed cropping and vacant land, and to complete the verification process between August 15 and October 15. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of organizing at least one 'Kisan Mela' (Farmers' Fair) annually in every Assembly constituency to disseminate information to farmers regarding modern technologies and new seed varieties.
The Food and Supplies Department was directed to ensure that the benefits of various schemes reach the poorest eligible individuals at the "last mile." Directives were also issued to write to the departmental headquarters requesting the delegation of authority to the district level, with the aim of simplifying the process for adding or removing names from the 'Parivar Pehchan Patra' (Family Identity Card). The Industries Department was asked to organize awareness camps for self-employment and to facilitate the availability of bank loans.
The Minister emphasized the need to generate employment opportunities for the youth by establishing more 'Vita' booths across the district, while also stressing the importance of maintaining transparency in the distribution process. The Health Department was directed to ensure the inclusion of the maximum number of young girls under the HPV vaccination campaign. The Revenue Department was asked to expedite the disposal of land mutation cases and to fast-track the completion of development works funded through the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
While commending the work of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) operating under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, the Minister emphasized the need to bring more women into the fold of these groups. Directives were also issued to ensure the timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and to facilitate the provision of loans to street vendors through the PM SVANidhi scheme. On this occasion, several public representatives and administrative officials were present. Additionally, the Sarpanches of the Gram Panchayats that secured the first, second, and third positions in the sanitation rankings under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) were felicitated.
