Garhshankar, 7 October (Hari Krishan Gangar):- CPI(M) District Secretary and State Secretariat Member Comrade Gurnek Singh Bhajjal, in a statement, said that the Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, has issued orders regarding the entry and movement in the city of overloaded tippers and other heavy vehicles linked to illegal mining on Garhshankar’s Nangal Road and Mahilpur-Jejo Road, but these orders are not being fully complied with.

He said that tippers and other heavy vehicles without number plates are also plying on the roads before the stipulated time. These vehicles pose a serious threat to the life and property of the general public. He alleged that illegal mining in the area is leading to continuous cutting of hills, causing damage to the environment as well.

Comrade Gurnek Singh Bhajjal said that along with imposing a ban on the movement of overloaded tippers, strict action should also be taken against vehicles without number plates. He said that the Transport Department and Mining Department should discharge their responsibilities and ensure that the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, are strictly enforced on the ground.

He demanded that the administration ensure strict compliance with the DC’s orders to protect the life and property of the people and safeguard the environment, and that immediate action be taken against illegal mining, overloaded vehicles and tippers without number plates.
