Hoshiarpur:- District Magistrate Ashika Jain said that as per the program announced by the State Election Commission, the counting of votes for the 6 Municipal Councils of the district will be held at 8 am on Friday, May 29 in the counting centers set up. The District Magistrate, while issuing orders in this regard, said that the counting of votes of Municipal Council Garhshankar will be held at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar.
Similarly, the counting of votes of Municipal Council Haryana will be held at GGDSD College, Haryana, the counting of votes of Municipal Council Tanda will be held at School of Eminence, Tanda, the counting of votes of Municipal Council Garhdiwala will be held at Khalsa Senior Secondary School Garhdiwala, the counting of votes of Municipal Council Dasuha will be held at School of Eminence Dasuha and the counting of votes of Municipal Council Mukerian will be held at SPN College, Mukerian. He said that keeping in mind the smooth arrangements of the counting process, students studying in the counting centers will have a complete holiday on May 29.
The District Magistrate, exercising the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code 2023, has issued orders imposing a complete ban on the gathering of 5 or more persons within a radius of 100 meters around the above-mentioned counting centers within the limits of Hoshiarpur district, carrying any kind of weapon, stick or deadly objects.
It is noteworthy that during the counting of votes, supporters of candidates and other people gather in large numbers around the counting centers, due to which there is a fear of any untoward incident and the law and order situation may be affected. According to the orders issued, in such a situation, there is a fear of breach of the confidentiality of the counting. The District Magistrate said that the district administration has made adequate arrangements to ensure that the counting process is conducted peacefully, impartially and in a smooth manner.
