Karnal, April 17: The BJP government is treating the *Annadata* (farmers—the providers of food) like criminals. This is because any farmer who arrives at the *mandi* (market) with their grain is subjected to scrutiny in countless ways. First, the condition of registration on a portal was imposed; subsequently, a myriad of other conditions—such as gate passes, biometric verification, tractor registration numbers, identity verification, and the requirement of a guarantor—have been thrust upon the farmers.
 This is the reason why, despite the heavy influx of crops into the *mandis*, actual procurement remains negligible. This assertion was made by former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Hooda was interacting with journalists in Karnal. He had arrived there to express his condolences following the passing of senior leader Surender Singh Mann. He met with the Mann family and offered them words of comfort.
Subsequently, while responding to questions from journalists, the Leader of the Opposition stated that both the grain and the farmers across the state's *mandis* are facing continuous distress. The situation is such that neither is the online portal functioning, nor are gate passes being issued; there is no bidding taking place, no procurement, no lifting of stocks, and no payments being processed.
In response to a question regarding the MLAs who engaged in cross-voting, he welcomed the decision taken by the party High Command. He asserted that those MLAs who engaged in anti-party activities should resign from their posts. He argued that they have betrayed not only the Congress party but also the very electorate that voted them into the Legislative Assembly specifically to defeat the BJP. 
Furthermore, Hooda alleged that the votes of four Congress MLAs were cancelled as part of a conspiracy. The party intends to approach both the Election Commission and the courts to challenge this action. Regarding the issue of women's reservation, Hooda stated that it should have been implemented as early as the 2024 elections, but the BJP is deliberately delaying its implementation. Commenting on the spate of crimes continuously occurring in the state, Bhupinder Singh Hooda stated that there is no such thing as a government in Haryana.
 Criminals here are committing crimes with impunity, and Haryana has become the most unsafe state in the country. A report released by the Central Government itself indicates that the BJP has completely dismantled law and order in the state.
