Chandigarh:- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a dig at the Union Government’s new Rural Employment Bill (VB-G RAM G) and said that the Centre first changed the names of railway stations and cities and now they are busy changing the names of institutions. He said that just changing the name does not do anything, real change comes with doing work. Chief Minister Mann sarcastically said, “They changed the stations and cities, now all that is left is to change the name of the country.”
He said that if someone’s name is changed to Amitabh Bachchan or Shahrukh Khan, then he does not actually become that personality.
The Chief Minister said that it does not matter to the daily wage earners what the name of the bill is, they only want the guarantee of employment. People want work, whether you call the city Prayagraj or Allahabad.
Along with this, the Chief Minister took a strong stand on the opposition's siege over the murder of a Kabaddi player in Mohali and said that strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disturb the peace of Punjab. No one will be able to escape by committing a crime. The Chief Minister also informed about the elaborate arrangements made for the 'Shaheedi Sabha' to be held at Fatehgarh Sahib (December 25 to 27).
He said that the government has made all kinds of security and facilities for lakhs of devotees who will come to pay homage to the unparalleled martyrdom of the younger sons of Tenth Pita Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Gujri Ji.
