Dirba, 7 October:- Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that 194 property cards were distributed today to eligible beneficiaries at village Diwangarh alias Kaimpur under the ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme. He said the initiative is an important step towards providing eligible families living within the Lal Dora with documented recognition of ownership of their homes. Under the scheme, a total of 25,122 property cards are to be distributed in the Dirba constituency. He said that along with ensuring smooth delivery of the cards to eligible beneficiaries, they would also be informed about their importance and use.
The Finance Minister said that one’s home is connected with the emotions, lifelong hard work and future hopes of every family. He said that when several generations of a family have lived in a particular house, a clear document of ownership of that house holds special significance for the family. He said that the property card provides the family with a formal record of ownership of its home, thereby giving it a sense of confidence and security.
Mr. Cheema said that many families in villages have been living in their homes within the Lal Dora for generations, but due to the absence of a formal ownership record, they face various difficulties. The ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme is an important initiative to address the lack of ownership records for the homes of such eligible families and to clearly establish their rights.
He said that under the scheme, ownership records are prepared by demarcating and mapping properties with the help of drone surveys and modern technology. A clear record of the location, boundaries and ownership of houses increases transparency and helps reduce misunderstandings and property-related disputes.
The Finance Minister said that the property card is an important document containing information about the identity and ownership of a house. It will provide families with greater confidence in maintaining and improving their homes and planning for the future. The availability of formal property records may also facilitate the process of applying for loans from banks, although loan approval will be subject to the concerned bank’s rules and the applicant’s eligibility.
Mr. Cheema appealed to beneficiaries to carefully verify the name, house information and other details recorded on their property cards. In case of any error or ambiguity, they should contact the concerned officials so that action can be taken as per the rules for correction of the record. He also appealed to people to cooperate with the concerned teams during the survey, verification of records and distribution of cards.
Mr. Cheema said, “‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ strengthens people’s rights, dignity and future security associated with their own homes. Today, with the distribution of 194 property cards in village Diwangarh alias Kaimpur, beneficiaries have received documented recognition of ownership of their homes. Our objective is to ensure that every eligible family benefits from this scheme and that the ownership record of its home is clear.”
