Sangrur/Sunam, October 21:- Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora distributed property cards establishing ownership rights over residential houses to 810 families from the villages of Ubhaawal, Eelwal and Lakhmirwala in the Sunam Assembly constituency during an event organised at Eelwal village under the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government was fulfilling a long-standing need of residents of rural areas by providing ownership documents to people living in houses situated within the Lal Lakir.

Addressing the gatherings organised in this regard, the Cabinet Minister said that numerous families in villages had been living in their homes for generations but did not possess proper documents establishing ownership of these properties. He said that the ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme was an important initiative for such families, providing documentary proof of ownership of their residential properties.

Aman Arora said that these certificates provided beneficiaries with ownership rights similar to those obtained after registering a property at the tehsil office. He explained that ownership would be formally recorded in the relevant revenue records and Jamabandi. This would facilitate families in buying and selling their properties and obtaining loans, subject to fulfilling the requirements of banks, whenever needed.

The Cabinet Minister said that a special feature of the scheme was that these ownership documents were being provided to people completely free of cost. He said that the Punjab Government had taken this step to remove uncertainty regarding ownership of people's homes without imposing any financial burden on them.

Congratulating the families who received property cards, Aman Arora said that obtaining valid documents confirming ownership of one's home was a matter of happiness and satisfaction for every family. He said that meeting people's everyday needs and ensuring that government services reached them remained a priority of the Punjab Government.

Aman Arora said that Punjab first heard terms such as ‘Chitta’ and ‘gangster’ during the period from 2007 to 2017, when such elements continued to receive patronage. In contrast, he said, the Punjab Government was working round the clock to eliminate drugs.

Officials from various departments, dignitaries, office-bearers, panchayat members, sarpanches and a large number of villagers were present on the occasion.
