Patiala:- The emergency meeting of the Democratic MGNREGA Front was held at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib under the leadership of state president Rajkumar Singh Kansuha, and the state leaders of the Internationalist Democratic Platform (IDP) participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, state leaders Karnail Singh Jakhepal, Darshan Singh Dhanetha and Gurmeet Singh Thuhi said that the central government has taken away the constitutional rights of the lower class of the country by abolishing the MGNREGA law in the Parliament, and has violated the rights of the states by bringing the newly brought law, Devendra Bharat Ji Ram Ji. They said that how can a state like Punjab, which is already drowning in debt, get 40 percent of the money because earlier the center used to give 90 percent and the state 10 percent.
Now that ratio has been changed to 60:40. Secondly, the money that used to come from the material caste for the development of villages will also be affected due to the non-receipt of the development work of villages. While it has not been implemented by any government in Punjab in the true spirit of the MGNREGA Act. The public is being misled by the name of Developed India Ram Ji Ram. There is an attempt to dampen the opposition to it by giving 125 days, whereas already the average work has not been given more than 38 days, so far this year the average work has been given only 26 days.
Addressing the meeting, DMF leaders Sunita Rani Kedupur, Krishan Singh Lubana and Kulwinder Kaur Ramgarh said that in protest against the abolition of the MGNREGA Act by the BJP central government, block-level protests, rallies, public meetings will be held fortnightly from December 22 to January 5 and demand letters will be given through the SDM and a protest will be held at the state level in Patiala on January 26, 2026.
He said that a joint meeting will be held soon with various farmers, laborers and other agitating parties to prepare a framework for the struggle against the central government. On this occasion, Raj Kaur Thuhi, Manpreet Rajpura, Tara Singh Phagguwala, Harpal Kaur Tibbi, Jasvir Kaur Moolabadha, Ranvir Kaur Badshahpur Kaleki, among others, participated.
