Chandigarh, June 23:- An important meeting of the Departmental High-Powered Procurement Committee was held here today at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Smt. Shruti Chaudhary. In this meeting, decisions were taken for flood control in the state in view of the upcoming monsoon. Member of DHPPC and State Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Dhanda were also specially present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the committee unanimously approved all 16 agendas related to the purchase of pipes and high-power water pumps to deal with situations like waterlogging and floods. The state government will spend more than Rs 30 crore on the purchase of these equipment and materials. The Minister said that this step of the government will greatly strengthen the water drainage arrangements in the sensitive and low-lying areas of the state.
The Minister directed the officials to ensure timely supply of all flood control related materials. The supply program set by the suppliers should be strictly followed. He said that no delay or laxity will be tolerated in the preparations before the onset of monsoon, so that the public can be saved from the problem of waterlogging. The Minister said that the main goal of the department is the safety of every citizen and saving agricultural land from being submerged in water. Education Minister Mr. Mahipal Dhanda also appreciated these efforts being made at the departmental level and said that these prompt decisions will prove to be a 'game-changer' in flood control at the ground level. Senior administrative officers and technical experts of the department were also present in the meeting, who shared the outline of transparency and quality standards of the procurement processes.
