Una, January 20: The Deputy Director of School Education (Elementary), Una, has released the schedule for the recognition and renewal process for the academic session 2026-27 for all private schools in Una district.
Deputy Director, Una, Somlal Dhiman, stated that under Section 2(n) sub-sections (two) and (four) of the Right to Education Act, it is mandatory for the managers of all private schools to submit their self-declaration form on the prescribed format at least 15 days before the commencement of each academic session. Applications can be submitted online through the website https://emerginghimachal.hp.gov.in/ by March 15, 2026.
He informed that private educational institutions whose recognition period of five years has been completed will have to apply for new recognition and also submit the file with necessary documents to the concerned office. A ??fee of Rs. 10,000 for classes 1 to 8, Rs. 5,000 for classes 6 to 8, and an annual renewal fee of Rs. 500 will have to be deposited online into the government treasury for inspection and granting of recognition.
Mr. Dhiman stated that if any private school is found operating without recognition or despite its recognition being rejected, strict action, including penalties, can be taken against it under Section 18(5) of the Right to Education Act, 2009.
In addition, he has directed all private schools to compulsorily reserve 25 percent of the total seats at the entry level for children from weaker sections and disadvantaged groups in unaided private schools under Section 12(1)(c). It will be the responsibility of the school management to make proper arrangements and conduct extensive publicity for this.
Instructions have also been given to select qualified teachers according to the standards prescribed under Section 23(1), and to ensure the safety of students by providing basic facilities such as safe buildings, fire safety facilities, sanitation, and an adequate number of toilets. 
The Deputy Director has appealed to all private school managements to cooperate in further strengthening the quality and safety of the education system by adhering to the prescribed guidelines in a timely manner.
