Una, June 25: At the initiative of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, special public awareness programs will be organized across the state on June 26 to mark 'Anti-Chitta Day'. Various awareness activities will be conducted throughout the state with the aim of sensitizing the public—especially the youth—to the growing menace of drugs, particularly 'Chitta' (synthetic drugs), and transforming the resolve for a drug-free Himachal into a mass movement.
In line with this, a public awareness campaign against drug abuse will also be launched in Una district. An 'Anti-Chitta' pledge-taking ceremony will be held at the Mini Secretariat complex at the district headquarters on June 26 at 11:00 AM. During the event, district administration officials and employees will take a pledge against drugs and collectively resolve to eradicate 'Chitta' and other narcotics from society.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has launched an 'Anti-Chitta' campaign to make the state drug-free; he emphasizes a policy of 'zero tolerance' and has highlighted that widespread public participation is the need of the hour to combat this social evil. The objective of 'Anti-Chitta Day'—being observed for the first time—is to raise awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of drugs, foster a positive atmosphere in society against drug abuse, and further strengthen public participation in the fight against drugs.
