Karnal, July 17:- As part of an ongoing campaign against the possession of illegal weapons, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-2) team of the Karnal District Police has arrested an accused person found in possession of an illegal country-made pistol.
The CIA-2 team, led by Sub-Inspector Krishna Chand, was patrolling the Vishwakarma Chowk area on the Karnal-Kaithal road for crime prevention purposes. During this time, the team received credible secret information that Harsh Deep, alias Bata—son of Ramchandra and a resident of Village Beed Amin, District Kurukshetra—was waiting for someone near the sewage water plant located on Rajbah Road, Shiv Colony (Lane No. 9), while carrying an illegal weapon. Acting on this information, the police team immediately raided the location and apprehended the accused based on the description provided. A search conducted in accordance with procedure led to the recovery of an illegal .32 bore country-made pistol from the accused. Upon inspection, the pistol's barrel was found to be empty. The accused was asked to produce a license or valid documentation for the weapon but failed to provide a satisfactory response.
The recovered pistol was seized and sealed as per protocol, and a case was registered against the accused under the Arms Act at the Ram Nagar Police Station, Karnal, following necessary on-site legal proceedings.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused already has nine criminal cases registered against him in the Kurukshetra and Karnal districts, involving charges such as attempted murder, violations of the NDPS Act, and offenses under the Arms Act. The team produced the accused before the honorable court, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
