Una, November 3 - Under the Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Promotion Project (JICA) Phase II, the Block Project Management Unit, Una, organized a one-day training workshop in Dathwara-Bareda. Under the chairmanship of Block Project Manager Dr. Gulshan Mankotia, the workshop discussed in detail the principles of irrigation and useful water management methods.
Dr. Gulshan Mankotia informed the farmers present at the workshop about improving water use efficiency, micro-irrigation systems (drip and sprinkler), rainwater harvesting, and scientifically determining crop-specific water requirements. Farmers were informed about the importance of kitchen gardens and encouraged to adopt organic farming so that all families can have access to fresh and nutritious vegetables at home.
Agricultural expert Rashm Sood stated that adopting scientific water management techniques is possible, both to increase agricultural production and to conserve groundwater. In addition, seeds of Rabi season vegetables were distributed to farmers, and they were taught modern cultivation techniques and nutrition management methods.
A large number of rural farmers and women participated in this event. Jeet Singh, President of the Krishak Vikas Sangh, and all the farmers present expressed their gratitude to the Zika project for providing important information on organic farming, irrigation, and water management.
