Una, November 27: A district-level program was organized in the auditorium of the Superintending Engineer's office of the Public Works Department, Una, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The program was presided over by Superintending Engineer Dinkar Sharma.
During the program, Superintending Engineer Dinkar Sharma stated that the objective of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is to provide better and safer connectivity to the people by developing a robust road network in rural areas.
He stated that the scheme has been implemented in four phases, and the final fourth phase has been approved. Under this program, construction of four new roads totaling 12 kilometers in length is proposed in Una district. A DPR worth approximately ?11 crore has been prepared and submitted for approval.
He stated that a total of 244 projects (roads and bridges) were approved under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Una district between 2000 and 2025. Of these, construction work of 215 projects has been completed at a cost of about Rs 550 crore, which includes 190 roads and 25 bridges.
Dinkar Sharma said that due to increased road connectivity in rural areas through PMGSY, there has been a significant improvement in access to education, health, market and other public services, which has brought positive change in the quality of rural life.
Executive Engineer Una Kuldeep Kumar, Executive Engineer Haroli Baldev Singh, Executive Engineer Daulatpur Chowk Hargovind Singh along with other officers and employees of the department were present in the program.
