Kharar, September 24:- In accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India, special voter registration camps are being continuously organised across the district by the District SVEEP Team under the leadership of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal to ensure the registration of eligible youth as voters.
As part of this initiative, a special voter registration camp was organised at Government Polytechnic College, Khuni Majra, under the leadership of Principal Raksha Kiran. During the camp, 62 new eligible voters were registered and their Form No. 6 was filled out.
On the occasion, District Nodal Officer, SVEEP, Prof. Gurbakhshish Singh Antal, while informing the youth about the importance of voter registration, said that every eligible citizen who has attained the age of 18 years should get their name enrolled in the voter list. He said that young people can make an important contribution towards further strengthening the country's democracy through active participation in the democratic process.
SIR-cum-Voter Registration Nodal Officer of the college, Dinsha Kataria, extended special cooperation in the successful organisation of the camp.
On the occasion, Prof. Gurbakhshish Singh Antal appealed to all government and private colleges and other educational institutions in the district to organise special voter registration camps in their institutions as well and ensure the registration of all eligible students aged 18 years or above as voters. He said that the objective of this initiative is to ensure that no eligible young person is deprived of the right to vote.
