Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar:- A large number of devotees welcomed the Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of the ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with full pomp and show as it entered the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district on Saturday evening near Mehli village. The devotees showered flowers on the Palki Sahib and the vehicle carrying Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and welcomed the Nagar Kirtan by reciting Shabad-Kirtan. A contingent of Punjab Police personnel provided the guard of honour.
Banga MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Punjab Water Resources Management Corporation Vice Chairman Kuljit Singh Sarhal, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Harjot Kaur Lohtia, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, SSP Tushar Gupta and other dignitaries also joined the devotees and welcomed the Nagar Kirtan.
This Nagar Kirtan, which started from Gurdaspur, will reach Sri Anandpur Sahib via Mehli, Behram, Banga, Nawanshahr, Balachaur, Kathgarh, Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib, Ropar Headworks. Welcoming the Nagar Kirtan, Banga MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi said that we are all proud to be participating in the historic 350th martyrdom day of Guru Ji.
He said that Guru Ji sacrificed his life for humanity, human rights, religious freedom and the protection of the rights of people of all religions. He said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is organizing a series of religious events to make maximum people aware of the rich heritage of the Sikh Gurus. He said that people of all religions across the state are gathering to pay homage to Guru Ji and welcoming the Nagar Kirtans at various places.
Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh and SSP Tushar Gupta said that all necessary arrangements have been made to welcome the Nagar Kirtan and facilitate the large number of devotees coming. Meanwhile, the Nagar Kirtan reached Bahian, Dhahan-Kleran, Mazari, Banga and started after stopping at Sri Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib.
At Gurdwara Sahib, MLA Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Vice Chairman of Punjab Water Resources Management Corporation Kuljit Singh Sarhal, senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party Harjot Kaur Lohtia, along with hundreds of devotees, had darshan of the Palki Sahib.
After this, the Nagar Kirtan was warmly welcomed by the devotees in villages Mallpur Ardkan, near Sugar Mill, near D-Mart and Balachaur. After a short stop at Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib, Ropar Headworks, the Nagar Kirtan entered district Ropar.
