Patiala, December 2: The district police have solved the mystery of Navneet murder case by arresting two accused elders. Both the accused, aged 67, shot dead 33-year-old Navneet Singh when he reached Ghalori Gate crematorium to collect the ashes of his uncle on the morning of November 29.
Navneet Singh was murdered by accused Raghbir Singh Mithu. Because Raghbir's unmarried brother Hardeep Tiwana had adopted his friend's son Navneet Singh and got the property in his name. Angry over the family property being given to an outsider, Raghbir Singh had increased his grudge after the death of his brother Hardeep Singh in the year 2020. Navneet Singh was ready to compromise and was ready to give some share but Raghbir Singh wanted the entire property.
SSP Dr. Nanak Singh told during the press conference that the in-charge of the police station, Harjinder Singh Dhillon and a team of senior officers have solved the case within 48 hours. Raghbir Singh, a resident of Dittupur Jattan Bhadson, and his accomplice Malkit Singh, aged 67, a resident of village Malaud Khanna, district Ludhiana, have been arrested.
A 32 bore revolver, a 315 bore rifle, 14 cartridges used in the murder, besides Raghbir's car, in which he fled from the scene, have been recovered from these persons. Cases have been registered against both the accused before this. A case of assault with intent to murder has been registered against Raghbir Singh in the year 1995.
Apart from registering two cases under NDPS and Arms Act in Dehlon police station in 1985 against the second accused, Malkit Singh, a case of liquor smuggling has been registered in Sadar Ahmedgarh police station in 1989.
