Chandigarh, April 12: Tricity Saini Vikas Manch organized a tribute event at Saini Bhawan, Sector 24, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great social reformer, writer and revolutionary social activist Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule ji.
Organized under the leadership of the president of the manch, Jai Singh Saini, this tribute event was attended by Municipal Corporation Councilor and Director of Chandigarh Cooperative Bank Limited, Hardeep Singh Buterla as the chief guest, while Pritam Singh Saini as the special guest, who paid tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule ji.
On this occasion, Hardeep Singh Buterla said that Mahatma Jyotiba Rao Phule ji rendered social service in many areas including efforts to eradicate untouchability and casteism, educate women and the downtrodden. He, along with his wife Savitri Bai Phule, started the first school in India in 1848 to educate women. He was known as an important figure in the social reform movement, whom every section of society remembers today. Buterla also appreciated such tribute events organized by Tricity Saini Vikas Manch to refresh the memories of such great men.
General Secretary of the Manch Shivcharan Saini and Vice President Rajbir Saini welcomed all the guests by garlanding them.
President Jai Singh Saini shed light on the life of Mahatma Ji and told how his life was full of struggle and he ended the evils prevalent in the society with hard work and dedication.
