Chandigarh:- Vishwa Punjabi Prachar Sabha, Chandigarh today organized a literary meet and a grand ceremony to install the portrait of world famous late marathon runner Fauja Singh. Marathon runner and international gold medalist Sardar Bhupinder Singh Bhagomajria attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Former Deputy Secretary Punjab Mr. Raj Kumar Sahowalia and former Deputy Secretary Punjab Government Sardar Dalveer Singh Saroa were present as special guests on the occasion. The ceremony was presided over by the institution's president Principal Bahadur Singh Gosal.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Principal Bahadur Singh Gosal welcomed the chief guest and other guests and mentioned the achievements of the famous marathon runner Baba Fauja Singh ji and paid emotional tribute to him on his death at the age of 114. After this, all the members of the institution along with the guests performed the ceremony of installing the picture of the late Fauja Singh in the office and paid tribute to the world famous runner by garlanding him with flowers.
Chief guest Sardar Bhupinder Singh Bhagomajaria, who is a current marathon runner, said that Sardar Fauja Singh made his place in the world marathon races despite his age and raised the name of the country. He said that the great personality of Sardar Fauja Singh is a shining pillar for him in marathon races.
He described the installation of Fauja Singh ji's picture in the office as a unique effort, which is a new inspiration for the youth. Special guests Raj Kumar Sahowalia and Sardar Dalveer Singh Saroa also paid their tributes and thanked the organization for giving special honor to the late marathon runner by Vishva Punjabi Prachar Sabha.
Literary Meet and Kavi Darbar In the second phase of the celebrations, a Kavi Darbar was organized during the literary meet in which Sardar Dalveer Singh Saroa, Raj Kumar Sahowalia, Bhupinder Singh Bhagomajaria, Principal Bahadar Singh Gosal, Balwinder Singh, and Sanjay Kumar recited their compositions. Shri Krishan Kumar Rahi, Jagtar Singh Jog, Avtar Singh Mehtapuri and Amarjit Singh Bathlana registered their presence online.
In the end, the advisor of the organization Balwinder Singh Dhariwal thanked the guests and the audience.
