As part of the ongoing campaign for the past several days, an awareness camp was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bahowal at Government Senior Secondary Smart School Kot Fatuhi regarding handling of paddy straw. At the beginning of the program, Parvinder Kumar, in-charge of Government Senior Secondary School Kot Fatuhi, welcomed the guests and appreciated the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra for conducting an awareness campaign for handling paddy straw. He also assured to give full support to this campaign. Center Associate Director (Training) Dr. Maninder Singh Bounce gave detailed information about various techniques on the need to preserve paddy straw. He explained in detail about the damage caused by burning stubble and the importance of various elements present in stubble. Dr. Bounce also shared information on the use of paddy straw as a biogas plant, energy, mushroom production and animal feed. They motivated the students to participate in various competitions of this school campaign and united to take this noble message of straw conservation home to home. Assistant Professor (Krishi Engineering) Dr. Ajaj Singh informed the children about the machinery related to paddy straw management. He also inspired the school students to play an important role in this awareness campaign. On this occasion, Krishi Vigyan Kendra organized speech, essay writing and painting competitions to create awareness among the students about the damages caused by burning paddy straw. The students participated in all the competitions. Winners of various competitions were also awarded for encouraging students. An awareness rally was also held by the students of the school regarding the bad effects of paddy stubble management and burning on the environment, land health and humanity.
