Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that Mata Chintapurni Mela is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage. This time under the 'Ugta Suraj' campaign, a resolution has been taken to make the fair free from plastic pollution. He said that our aim is to make this fair not only spiritually sacred but also to keep it clean and pure from the environmental point of view.
Active cooperation is expected from all the NGOs, volunteers and aware citizens of the society in this campaign. Under this campaign, volunteers have been given important responsibilities. They will be appointed as per shifts in langars from Adamwal to Hoshiarpur border. These volunteers will regularly check the stalls and langar pandals during this period.
They will monitor cleanliness, ensure 100 percent plastic free pandals. This includes making devotees aware of the plastic prohibition policy, cooperating in waste management and reporting regularly for 10 days on the best stalls.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that this contribution of the volunteers will prove to be a milestone in making the fair eco-friendly. He said that the organizations and volunteers who perform excellently in the campaign will be specially honored. The best pandals and those who bring change will be honored with certificates in a huge program.
