Departments to work in coordination to prevent road accidents - ADC

Hoshiarpur:- On the directions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson District Road Safety Committee Ashika Jain, a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarbir Kaur Bhullar. Officers of various departments were present in it and issues related to road safety were discussed in detail.

Officers of various departments were present in it and issues related to road safety were discussed in detail.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, while taking information from the Public Works Department, said that as per the survey of the year 2023, 44 black spots were identified in the district, the number of which has now reduced to 21.
These black spots are related to the National Highway Authority Jalandhar and Amritsar, Public Works Department, Municipal Corporation etc. Instructions were given on this that the executive, Public Works Department, in coordination with all the concerned agencies at the district level, should hold weekly meetings to remove the black spots and send their progress report to the RTO.
In the meeting, the representative of the Traffic Education Cell of the Police Department said that 61 traffic awareness camps were organized in the month of July. The Chairman directed that such camps should be organized not only in schools but also for e-rickshaw and auto-rickshaw drivers so that they are aware of traffic rules and road accidents can be reduced.
A report on the action taken under the Safe School Vehicle Scheme was sought from the representative of the District Child Protection Officer and instructions were given to prepare a checking roster every month and send it to the RTO so that inspection of all school buses can be ensured.
Assistant RTO Sandeep Kumar Bharti said that a total of 121 buses were inspected during the month of July, out of which challans were issued for not fulfilling the conditions of the Safe School Vehicle Policy of 9 buses. The Traffic Incharge said that a total of 2884 challans were issued in the month of July.
