Jalandhar- On the birth anniversary of the senior member of the Desh Bhagat Memorial Committee, renowned playwright, director and actor late Prof. Ajmer Singh Aulakh, the Desh Bhagat Memorial Committee today paid tribute to his long, tireless and inspiring exemplary work at the local Desh Bhagat Memorial Hall.
On this occasion, the Desh Bhagat Memorial Committee said that personalities like Prof. Ajmer Singh never die. The time of their separation is also the time to meet them. Their birth anniversary should not be celebrated in the traditional manner but with the promise of becoming the pathfinder of new ideas, ideals and new paths.
The committee leaders said that today, in addition to the serious crisis of farmers, landless people, the creation of plays like 'Ain Khilenge Zaminan Mas', plays like 'Aise Jan Virle Sansari', 'Annhe Nishanchi', this year, when the centenary of the death of Ghadri Gulab Kaur is going on, on that occasion, there is a need to take her play 'Tu Charkha Ghukda Rakh Zinde' to all the educational institutions in every village.
It is worth mentioning that the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee has dedicated this time to Ghadri Gulab Kaur, the Mela of Ghadri Babas. In today's meeting, it was decided that the meeting of the cultural wing formed by the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee to discuss all the competitions and performances of the Ghadri Babas, which is being held on 30, 31 October and 1 November, will be held on 30 August at 11 am in the local hall.
The discussions held in today's meeting condemned the efforts being made to darken the saffron colour in Punjab's universities. The ban on 25 books by eminent scholars of the country in Jammu and Kashmir was opposed. In today's meeting, it was appealed to the people to remain vigilant that although the land pooling policy has been withdrawn, the issue of land-related concerns of settlers and landless people still remains. Discussions were also held on this.
Concerns were also expressed in today's meeting on the issue of migration, which is becoming serious day by day, attacks on freedom of expression and giving free holidays to the police in Punjab. The Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee has appealed to the people living in the country and abroad that in the light of the Ghadar movement, the full cooperation of everyone is needed to make the Ghadri Babas' Fair, which is going to touch on all issues through the medium of art works, a success in every aspect.
The meeting was attended by Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee President Ajmer Singh, General Secretary Prithipal Singh Marimegha, Vice President Kulwant Singh Sandhu, Assistant Secretary Charanji Lal Kanganiwal, Finance Secretary Sital Singh Sangha and Convener of the Cultural Wing Amolak Singh.
