Chandigarh, 15 August 2025- Former MP from Chandigarh and Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Satyapal Jain, hoisted the National Flag today at Shastri Market, Sector 22-C, during the Independence Day function organized by the Market Association. On this occasion, former Mayor Shri Devesh Modgil was also present. Later, both leaders addressed the gathering.
Upon reaching the market, Shri Mukesh Goyal, Shri Kulbir Singh, Shri Puneet Kapoor Baba, Shri Jagdish Goyal, Shri Paramjit Tungal, Shri Prince Badula, and Shri Kulwinder Singh, along with other market leaders, welcomed the dignitaries.
In his address, Shri Jain said that Shastri Market is one of the oldest markets of Chandigarh and has played a significant role in the city’s development. He further said that Independence Day is a collective celebration for all, and it is heartening to see everyone observing it together.
Shri Devesh Modgil, in his address, mentioned that the office-bearers of the Market Association had brought certain problems of Shastri Market to his notice, and he assured that he would make every effort, in coordination with the administration, to resolve them.
