
Universal Heritage Summer Camp ends on a memorable note.
SAS Nagar, June 30- The 33rd Universal Heritage 20-day Summer Camp in the series of heritage akhadas organised by Universal Art and Culture Welfare Society (regd), Mohali to protest against vulgar and armed singing ended on a memorable note. Apart from the colours of singing, gutka, Malwai giddha, heritage and cultural folk dances were also presented during the camp.

Apart from the colours of singing, gutka, Malwai giddha, heritage and cultural folk dances were also presented during the camp.
Swarn Singh, Chairman, Mohali Village Market Committee attended the akhada as the chief guest and Balkar Sidhu as the special guest. Addressing on the occasion, Swarn Singh said that such heritage akhadas inspiring the youth and children should be organised all over Punjab so that the youth can be saved from drugs and introduced to their real heritage and culture. This akhada was dedicated to the late Manpreet Singh, associate of the organisation.
The closing ceremony of the summer camp was conducted by Biba Rupinder Kaur, Advocate. The arena started with Gagandeep and Ravneet singing Kavishri. Jago written by Bibi Narinder Kaur and sung by Davinder Kaur against drug abuse gave a very good message.
On this occasion, children from Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gatka Academy, Mohali, under the patronage of Jathedar Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, gave a wonderful presentation of the heritage and combative sport of Gatka. Biba Gursirat Kaur presented a poem teaching to keep the environment clean. Children presented choreography prepared on folk songs under the direction of Anureet Pal Kaur and Ramanpreet Kaur. The Dhamaal of folk dance Giddha directed by Sukhbir Pal Kaur impressed the audience.
Gurmukh Singh, Biba Amrit Kaur and Biba Ramji presented songs under the patronage of music director Avtar Khiva. The presentation of Malwai Giddha prepared by Narinder Neena was highly appreciated. Luddi of girls prepared by Bhangra coach Gary Gill and Bhangra presented by Deepak and Harnoor took the program to the pinnacle.
At the Akhara, eminent theatre personality, film actor and director Jasbir Gill was felicitated for his invaluable contribution to the field of drama. In the end, Society President, theatre personality and actor Narinder Pal Singh Neena thanked all the audience present.
The success of the Akhara was credited to the special contribution of film actors Amritpal Singh, Balkar Sidhu, Narinder, Mandeep Singh, Amrit Pal, Harkirat Pal, Hardeep, Karampal Pala, Balwinder Singh Mohali, Prabhleen Kaur and others.
