Bathinda- Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today wrote a letter to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, appealing to him to take action against the Chief Security Manager of AIIMS.
In a letter to the minister, the senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader said that complaints have been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner's office about how Chief Security Officer Manjit Singh forced female security personnel to have illicit relations. She said that despite being given several notices and reminders since April 2024, the AIIMS management has not submitted a report in this regard.
Mrs. Badal said that this officer, who was dismissed from his previous job for indulging in sexual harassment, has been making recruitments in AIIMS in the name of fake companies, although he was removed from the responsibility of recruitments.
He said that Manjit Singh is also accused of taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a newly recruited security personnel, who were recruited in place of 40 other permanent security staff and were dismissed within five months. He said that this action is not only corruption but also compromises the reputation of the institution. He said that it seems that the higher authorities are protecting this officer and they too may have some interest in corruption.
Harsimrat Badal demanded an inquiry into the entire matter and said that necessary steps need to be taken immediately. She stressed that this is not just a matter of wrongdoing of one person but a big question mark over the entire recruitment process in AIIMS.
