DC Komal Mittal Reviews Ghaggar Overflow Situation in Khajoor Mandi and Rainwater Drainage Issue at Jharmari

The Deputy Commissioner informed that medical assistance, Animal Husbandry teams, dry ration, and fodder for animals are being provided to the affected residents. She further stated that crop and other losses falling under Disaster Management norms would be duly compensated, for which the Revenue Patwari has been instructed to carry out an immediate assessment. During her visit to the medical camp, ration distribution points, and the houses of affected villagers, she emphasized that the district administration is providing assistance according to the specific needs of the community.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the issue of waterlogging and drainage under the Ambala–Chandigarh National Highway near village Jharmari. Directions were issued to the National Highways Authority (NHAI) to immediately remove obstructions in the drains. NHAI promptly deployed machinery for water disposal and was instructed to remain on site until the work was completed.
During her visit to Jharmari, she also assessed the rainwater drainage issues faced by local residents. The SDM Dera Bassi, along with the BDPO, was directed to implement a temporary solution to provide immediate relief. The Deputy Commissioner assured that a permanent resolution to these issues would be implemented after the monsoon season.
She was accompanied by SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, Tehsildar Derabassi Sumeet Singh Dhillon, and other officials from various departments.
