Faridabad: Three members of a family and their pet dog died after an air-conditioner compressor exploded in their house in Green Field Colony, Faridabad early today.
The blast took place at around 3 am on the second floor of a four-storey rented building when the family was sleeping. It is believed that a short circuit caused a fire in the AC, which caused the compressor to explode.
The deceased have been identified as Sachin Kapoor (49), wife Rinku (48) and their daughter Suzanne (13). The couple's son Aryan (24) escaped by jumping from the balcony but suffered fractures in his legs and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to the police, the family tried to escape to the roof but the door was locked, due to which they died of suffocation. Fire brigade and police teams reached the spot and brought the fire under control. All three victims were declared brought dead at the hospital.
