Nawanshahr - Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Drug Victims Nawanshahr organized an anti-drug awareness camp under "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" at Gurdwara Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, village Kulam. This camp was presided over by Shri Baljit Singh (Sarpanch).
Sardar Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the villagers, first of all he discussed the topic "War Against Drugs" and said that the whole of India including Punjab has come under the grip of drugs in which now even small children and girls are getting addicted to drugs.
That is why the governments have also put all their efforts to eliminate drugs from the country. So all of us should pay special attention to our children and what the children are doing. In today's time, more and more youth are getting addicted to drugs. Due to which the youth and their parents are becoming mentally ill.
To get out of this problem, they consume other drugs, which makes it very difficult for them to get out of the grip of drugs. He appealed to the villagers that we should connect our young generation with the history of sacrifices of our gurus, pirs, martyred warriors, so that the youth can read their biographies and get guidance.
Kamaljit Kaur (Councilor) also shared detailed information about the treatment of patients at the center that any drug addict can stay in the center for a month as per his wish and get free treatment, because drugs cannot be given up by staying at home, to give up drugs it is necessary to reach out to psychiatrists and drug de-addiction centers.
On this occasion, Mr. Baljit Singh (Sarpanch) made the villagers aware about drugs and thanked the Red Cross team. He assured that anti-drug awareness camps will continue in the future as well.
